Carol Salvesen

Clinical Director, Sensory Integration

One of the founders of Talitha Koum Institute, Carol serves as Clinical Director of Sensory Integration at Talitha Koum offering many hours of pro bono work through the years in addition to consulting fees TKI is now pleased to afford through designated grant funding. 

Carol is a highly experienced Occupational Therapist certified in Neurodevelopment Treatment (1989). She holds extensive TKI staff training sessions in sensory integration and sensorimotor intervention and related brain development.In 2018, after receiving 200 hours of training, Carol became certified in Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) from Child Trauma Academy (Bruce Perry, M.D., Ph.D.).

Her past experience includes 18 years as an Occupational Therapist at Klaras Children’s Center working with infantswith disabilities, nine years as Waco ISD’s first full-time OT, as well as the practicing OT for the Falls Education Co-op,Marlin. Carol is now a Supervising OT with Care Options for Kids through which she provides one-on-one therapy, some to our Talitha Koum students.

Off the clock, Carol is a consummate quilter and gardener. Weekends find Carol and husband, Steve,  plunged into vegetable and flower gardens or relishing time at their beach house on Bolivar Peninsula, preferably surrounded by their son, daughter, son-in-law, and grandson.
