Kenna Elwood

Therapeutic Teacher, Infants

Kenna has lived in Waco her whole life and has invested deeply in early childhood development in the community. After attending MCC to study Childhood Development focusing on Early Education and Family Studies, Kenna worked for 30 years in the Waco public school district focused on its Preschool Program for children with disabilities. She followed students as they moved from school to school and served as a support system for their development. Additionally, she worked for 10 years as a teacher at MCC’s Child Development Center. This experience prepared and inspired her to join Talitha Koum. Since beginning her role here in June 2020, Kenna has specifically focused on Talitha Koum’s mission to minister, nurture, and cater to the emotional needs of the children in the program.

Kenna enjoys facilitating play and imagination in the children she works with. Teaching through hands-on activities, Kenna helps kids learn to self-regulate. She encourages them to turn the simplest parts of life into the most beautiful! When Kenna isn’t working to learn more about child development, she reads suspense thrillers and gardens!
